13 Feb Why we should all get familiar with our ‘discomfort zone’
I have come to the conclusion that, when it comes to growing a business, nothing good happens inside the comfort zone (other than feeling warm and snuggly and, erm comfortable of course).
The discomfort zone is where the magic happens.
Pushing ourselves that little bit further, meeting new people, setting out our stall and convincing others to buy what we are selling and to trust us to make a difference – even if there is the chance we will fail and fall flat on our face – we will still learn something.
The same goes for joining the conversation on challenging issues.
As a communications pro working in trans inclusion and awareness, I meet so many people who are supportive of our trans and non-binary siblings but who stop short of putting their head above the parapet – the implications of getting it wrong leading to a classic case of paralysis by over analysis.
When it comes to standing up for what we believe we have to get used to being uncomfortable. If we stand by and do nothing, nothing will change.
There is a reason why companies who are LGBT-friendly are more profitable – because we all want to work with and for businesses who have strong values with which we align.
So I invite you to get comfy in your discomfort zone, because that’s where real change happens.
If you would like to chat about how TransMission PR can help you to join the conversation drop me a line.
Alternatively if you want to chat about meeting Cilla and being on Blind Date back in the day, as my friends will tell you, I am always happy to oblige!
