At TransMission PR, purpose and diversity are embedded into our DNA. We don’t just give advice. We take action. Our network of comms professionals includes trans and non-binary individuals whose expertise and input is intrinsic to everything we do.

Our Network

The TransMission PR network is made up of highly experienced communications professionals, many of whom also happen to be trans or non-binary. We act as a bolt-on, supercharging your existing expertise with trans-specific insights and knowledge, ensuring that you are able to expertly navigate any communications activity that seeks to be inclusive of a gender diverse audience.

Our Founder

TransMission PR was founded by Aby Hawker, a comms professional with more than 20 years’ experience in the industry. Despite having worked on national, regional and international campaigns for household brands ranging from British Airways to Braun and Gillette, Aby had always wanted to use her PR powers for good.

 

In 2016 she was offered the role of head of comms for a start-up healthcare provider, hell-bent on turning the woefully inadequate healthcare provision for gender diverse people in the UK, on its head. This role gave her a deep understanding of the challenges facing the trans community, as well as clarity around the urgent need for allies to be proactive in their support.

Everything she learned during that time has been honed and refined to create TransMission PR, a communications consultancy which not only provides insight and advice on how best to make communications inclusive of trans and non-binary people, but ensures that those providing that advice and guidance have first-hand experience of what it means to be gender diverse in the world today.

An ethical approach

We don’t believe in spin, or in promoting organisations that are less than 100% committed to practising what they preach. PR is not an afterthought (though we are good people to know in a crisis) or a bolt on (if you’re not really committed to change, you’re unlikely to appreciate our response).
